Valentina Cortese's collection auctioned for charity in Milan

Il Ponte auction house is set to auction the wardrobe, artworks, and furnishings of the late actress Valentina Cortese at Palazzo Crivelli in Milan on March 1-2, 2022. This charity event, supported by the Municipality of Milan and the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, will feature a three-day exhibition from February 25-27, aligning with Milan Fashion Week 2022. Proceeds will aid the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research and the Piccolo Teatro, honoring Cortese's wishes. The auction catalog includes around 300 lots, showcasing clothing by designers like Roberto Capucci and Christian Dior, along with paintings by Leonor Fini, including 'L'amitié' (1958) and 'Le Retour des absents' (1965). Cortese, who passed away in 2019 at 96, was an iconic figure in film and theater, nominated for an Oscar in 1975 for 'Day for Night.' The funds will also support the Piccolo Teatro's 'Archivio di una diva' initiative and a scholarship for a young actress at the Luca Ronconi Theatre School.
