Val Kilmer's 'Top Gun' Iceman Helmet Up for Auction

Goldin, an auction house located in New Jersey, is hosting an auction until June 17 for a helmet worn by the late Val Kilmer as Lieutenant Tom "Iceman" Kazansky in the 1986 film Top Gun. This helmet, an HGU-33 model crafted by Flight Suits LTD (now known as Gibson & Barnes), is the highlight of Goldin's Spring Pop Culture Elite Auction, with bidding commencing at $25,000. Although it lacks the Flight Suits LTD label, its communication cable placement aligns with other Top Gun helmets, and period-appropriate logos are present on the oxygen mask's bayonet receivers. Accompanying the helmet is a handwritten note from director Tony Scott stating, "A Top Gun gift in return for all your generosity," which is being verified by a third-party authenticator. The auction also features a signed limited-edition Harry Potter card (currently at $24,500), Star Wars memorabilia, and a Swarovski-embossed glove worn by Michael Jackson during his 1984 Victory tour (bidding at $8,000).
