Václav Kadrnka discusses debut feature film '80 Letters' with Natascha Drubek
Václav Kadrnka, who was born in 1973 in Gottwaldov (now known as Zlín), Czechoslovakia, moved to the UK with his family in 1988 after his mother applied for emigration the previous year. After the political changes in 1989, he returned to Czechoslovakia and decided to remain there in 1992. He studied film directing at FAMU in Prague from 1999 until 2008. Since then, Kadrnka has been working as a director, screenwriter, and producer, even assisting the famed new wave director Vojtěch Jasný. His debut feature, '80 Letters' (Osmdesát dopisů), debuted in 2011 and was later discussed in an interview with Natascha Drubek on July 15. Prior works include the shorts 'Passengers' (2002) and 'Elegy of Wood' (2009).
