V.O.I.C.E: A New Risk Taxonomy for Synthetic Voice Generation
A new taxonomy called V.O.I.C.E (Voice, Ownership, Identity, Control, Expression) has been created by researchers to categorize risks associated with synthetic voice technology. This framework is based on an analysis of 569 incidents sourced from prominent AI incident databases, the FTC, and the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). Additionally, it includes 1,067 direct reports from U.S. participants, including voice actors, internet influencers, political figures, and the general populace, along with 2,221 discussions from Reddit. The taxonomy illustrates how risks develop and interact with contextual elements such as exposure levels, social visibility, and legal safeguards. This research is available on arXiv in the Computer Science > Cryptography and Security category.
