V&A to Stage Major Alice in Wonderland Exhibition in 2021

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London will host 'Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser' from March 27, 2021, the most comprehensive exhibition ever on Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. Curated by Kate Bailey, the show spans five thematic sections: Creating Alice, Filming Alice, Reimagining Alice, Staging Alice, and Being Alice. It traces the novel's influence from its 1865 manuscript to contemporary art, fashion, and film, featuring works by Salvador Dalí, the Beatles, Little Simz, Thom Browne, Iris van Herpen, and Annie Leibovitz. The exhibition design by Tom Piper includes theatrical sets, large-scale digital projections, and interactive environments. After previews at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne and the ArtScience Museum in Singapore, the V&A marks the first European stop of a world tour. The journey begins in the Sainsbury Gallery with a descent into the rabbit hole and ends with an exit through a mirror, featuring a new digital art installation inspired by 'Through the Looking-Glass'.
