V&A Museum to host Alice in Wonderland VR experience ahead of 2021 exhibition
The Victoria & Albert Museum in London will launch a virtual reality preview of its upcoming exhibition 'Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser' on October 22, 2020. The VR experience, created in collaboration with HTC VIVE Arts and PRELOADED, offers a glimpse into the exhibition opening March 27, 2021. Participants can explore five sections of the show as avatars, including the immersive 'Staging Alice' area featuring the Hall of Doors and croquet ground. The event is accessible via VR headsets or through the VR ENGAGE platform on Windows PC or Android devices, with a recorded live stream on YouTube. Kate Baley, Senior Curator of Theatre and Performance at the V&A, noted that Alice's stories have inspired new technologies from silent film to CGI, making virtual reality a natural fit. The exhibition explores Alice's global impact across creative disciplines.
