Uzodinma Iweala Honored with ICI's 2023 Leo Award
Uzodinma Iweala, who has held the position of CEO at The African Center in New York since 2018, has been honored with the 2023 Leo Award from Independent Curators International. This accolade, named in tribute to the iconic art dealer Leo Castelli, celebrates individuals who have provided exceptional support to artists and curators while establishing innovative frameworks that enhance the art community. Iweala's background includes being the CEO, editor-in-chief, and co-founder of Ventures Africa magazine. He has written notable works such as 'Our Kind of People' (2012), which addresses AIDS in Nigeria, and the novel 'Speak No Evil' (2018), centered on a queer Nigerian-American teenager in Washington D.C.
