Uzbekistan's First Venice Biennale Pavilion Explores Algorithmic Origins Through Al-Khwārizmī

Uzbekistan makes its inaugural appearance at the 59th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale with 'Dixit Algorizmi – The Garden of Knowledge,' located at Quarta Tesa in the Arsenale until November 27, 2022. Curated by Space Caviar and Sheida Ghomashchi for the Art and Culture Development Foundation, this exhibition delves into the roots of modern technology through contemporary artistic expressions, highlighting the contributions of 9th-century scholar Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī, who was pivotal in bringing Hindu-Arabic numerals to Europe. A central piece, 'Velocity0,' created by Abror Zufarov and Charli Tapp, showcases 88 electromagnets interacting with a Yamaha CP80 Grand Piano. Additionally, public programs are scheduled for September 24 and October 22, 2022, with performances on November 12 and 22, 2022.
