Ute Meta Bauer to Direct Second Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale
Ute Meta Bauer has been named the artistic director for the upcoming second edition of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale, set to take place in January 2024, by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation. Currently a professor at Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media, she co-chairs the master's program focused on museum studies and curatorial practices. Bauer’s impressive portfolio includes curating the Singapore Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale, co-curating the 17th Istanbul Biennial and Documenta11 with Okwui Enwezor, and leading the third Berlin Biennale. Her previous leadership positions include roles at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Royal College of Art. An independent advisory committee, comprising Dr. Rafal Niemojewski, Antonia Carver, Akram Zaatari, Raneem Farsi, and Sarah Binladen, chose her for this position.
