Ute Meta Bauer replaced by Karin G. Oen at NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore
Karin G. Oen has assumed the role of director at NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, succeeding founding director Ute Meta Bauer. Bauer, who launched the centre in 2013 at Gillman Barracks, focused her tenure on the research theme Climates.Habitats.Environments, presenting solo exhibitions for artists such as Joan Jonas, Tomás Saraceno, and Amar Kanwar, along with group exhibitions like The Oceanic (2018) and The Posthuman City (2020). The ongoing exhibition, Climate Crisis and Cultural Loss, is part of a research initiative from the Ministry of Education that Bauer will continue. She also serves as Principal Research Fellow, Senior Principal Investigator for the Climate Transformation Programme, and teaches in NTU's MA Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices programme. Oen, who was Deputy Director, Curatorial Programmes at NTU CCA from 2019 to 2021, is currently a Senior Lecturer and head of Art History at NTU's School of Humanities.
