festival-fair · 2026-04-20

The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) has chosen Ute Meta Bauer, Amar Kanwar, and David Teh to curate the 17th Istanbul Biennial, which will take place from September 11 to November 14, 2021. Bauer, the founding director of NTU CCA since 2013, has experience with Documenta 11 and the Berlin Biennale. Kanwar, who won the Prince Claus Award in 2017, has exhibited his art in major venues. Teh, an associate professor at the National University of Singapore, wrote a book called Thai Art: Currencies of the Contemporary in 2017. The curators plan to focus on natural processes, aiming for a non-traditional event that lacks a typical ending. More details will come out in 2021.
