Utah mother who wrote grief book after husband's death sentenced to life for his murder
Kouri Richins, a Utah mother who wrote a children's book about dealing with loss after her husband's death, has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for his murder. In March, a jury convicted her of aggravated murder for poisoning Eric Richins with a dose of fentanyl that was five times lethal at their home near Park City in 2022. She also faced charges of insurance fraud, forgery, and attempted murder related to a fentanyl-laced sandwich incident on Valentine's Day. During the sentencing, which fell on what would have been her husband's 44th birthday, Judge Richard Mrazik stated that she is "too dangerous to ever be free." Richins's lawyers plan to appeal, and she maintains her innocence, calling the verdict "an absolute lie."
