Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will depart from President Donald Trump's administration, as announced by the White House on Monday. Her resignation follows accusations of misconduct, including an alleged affair with a subordinate and drinking alcohol while on duty. White House spokesman Steven Cheung stated that Chavez-DeRemer is leaving to pursue a role in the private sector, praising her efforts in protecting American workers and implementing fair labor practices. Keith Sonderling, the current deputy labor secretary, will serve as acting labor secretary. Chavez-DeRemer becomes the third cabinet member to exit recently, following the firings of homeland security secretary Kristi Noem in March and attorney general Pam Bondi earlier this month. Unlike other departures, this announcement was made by a White House aide rather than directly by the president on social media.
