Ursula Johnson Wins 2017 Sobey Art Prize
On October 25, Ursula Johnson was awarded the 14th Sobey Art Prize, securing a $50,000 grant during a ceremony held at Hart House Great Hall, University of Toronto. Representing the Atlantic region, Johnson triumphed over four other finalists: Jacynthe Carrier from Québec, Bridget Moser from Ontario, Divya Mehra from the Prairies, and Raymond Boisjoly from the West Coast and Yukon. Notably, all nominees received $10,000 this year. An exhibition featuring the works of all contenders is currently on display at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto, running until December 9. The Sobey Art Prize has honored artists since 2002.
