Urn Studios unveils US collection reimagining memorial objects as expressive design

Founded in 2024, Urn Studios, a UK-based platform, has introduced its inaugural collection in the US, transforming memorial items into celebrations of life. Co-founders Jonathan Hancock and Merel Swart recognized a strong demand in America, resulting in a collaboration with seven artists: Philip Kupferschmidt, Michelle Wen, Hui-Yong Kim, Marianna Jamadi, Abbey Peters, C.C. Boyce, and Jesse Hamerman. The collection features Kupferschmidt's vessels, Wen's historic designs, Kim's minimalist creations, and Jamadi's urns that incorporate candles and flowers. Hancock highlighted the collection's diverse character, with the goal of enhancing public perception of memorial design. Urn Studios intends to broaden artist partnerships and create an in-house line, focusing on contemporary memorial design that thoughtfully addresses grief.
