URF-GS: Unified Radio-Optical Framework for 3D Radio Map Construction

ai-technology · 2026-04-30

A team of researchers has introduced URF-GS, a comprehensive framework for radio-optical radiation fields that utilizes 3D Gaussian splatting and inverse rendering to create 3D radio maps by integrating visual and wireless data. This innovative approach retrieves scene geometry and material characteristics, enabling the prediction of radio signals across various transceiver setups without the need for retraining. Experimental results indicate enhancements of up to 24.7% in spatial spectrum accuracy and a tenfold increase in sample efficiency when compared to NeRF-based techniques. The framework's effectiveness is showcased in Wi-Fi applications.
