Urbi et Orbi: Open call for photographic project on domestic space during quarantine

digital · 2026-04-27

MADE Program – Accademia di Belle Arti di Siracusa has launched a photographic project titled 'Urbi et Orbi | Casa chiama mondo,' led by Luca Andreoni and The Cool Couple (Niccolò Benetton and Simone Santilli). Originating within the academy's photography course, the initiative extends to social media as an open contest inviting participants to rethink domestic space, the relationship between inside and outside, and interpersonal connections through photography. The project is divided into two phases: the first, curated by Andreoni and running until May 10, focuses on the interior of the home; the second, guided by The Cool Couple, shifts attention to the exterior, encouraging participants to capture extradomestic reality using new technologies and 'small tricks.' Participants can submit up to 10 images on Instagram by tagging @madeprogram and using #casachiamamondo. The contest concludes with a printed publication featuring student works and selected Instagram submissions. To inspire contributions, MADE's social channels share videos and prompts, starting with an analysis of photographic works by Bruno Munari, Bruce McLean, and Thomas Ruff, each depicting the human body in relation to seating (chair, stool, sofa).
