Urania statue and Italian design showcased at G20 Rome summit

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN) has lent its colossal Roman statue Urania to the G20 summit in Rome, where it stands at the Nuvola di Fuksas in the EUR district. The statue, a Roman replica of a Greek original from Herculaneum, represents the muse of astronomy and was discovered in Rome's Theater of Pompey. It previously served as an archaeological ambassador at Naples' Capodichino Airport in 2017. Concurrently, the ADI Design Museum presents the exhibition 'Italian Design' as a collateral event, curated by ADI Associazione per il Disegno Industriale and ADI Design Museum – Compasso d'Oro. The show features recent Italian design objects, aligning the G20 keywords People, Planet, Prosperity with design keywords Innovation, Responsibility, Creativity. Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini stated that the exhibition provides a prestigious showcase for Italian design at the leaders' summit, which runs until October 31, 2021.
