market-auction · 2026-05-05

A previously unknown work by Paolo Scheggi, from his 'Intersuperficie curva dal rosso' series dating to the early 1960s, has been discovered in a private Danish collection. The piece will be exhibited at 12-Drouot in Paris on September 12–13, 2016, then auctioned by Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art in Copenhagen from September 20–29, 2016, with an estimate of €270,000–335,000. Scheggi, who died in 1971 at age 31, has seen a surge in market interest over the past decade. In 2015, Sotheby's Milan sold his 'Intersuperficie curva bianca' (1969) for €1.35 million, and Sotheby's London sold a 1967 work for €1.319 million. Another piece from his Biennale period, 'Parete Intercamera plastica', fetched €1.156 million at Sotheby's London in 2015. Robilant + Voena in London held a major solo show for the artist in 2014. The rediscovered work was recently catalogued by the Associazione Paolo Scheggi in Milan.
