Unlearning Barcelona: First Festival of Unlearning Opens in Spain

The first Unlearning Barcelona festival is happening in the city and runs until November 10. Organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Barcelona and led by curator Maria Rosa Sossai, the festival draws inspiration from philosopher Gayatri Spivak, who advocates for examining knowledge through marginalized perspectives. It features a variety of Italian artists and groups like ALAgroup, Baubaus, Valentina Bonizzi, and many others, all of whom interact with local communities. According to Angelo Gioè, the festival aims to transform the way exhibitions are traditionally viewed and spark important conversations about alternative educational approaches. Events are taking place in diverse venues, including schools, a supermarket, a cultural center, and the Palau de la Generalitat.
