#UNITIMADISTANTI: Social Campaign to Support Italian Denim Industry
Alessandro Marchesi, CEO of Compagnia del Denim, launched the social campaign #UNITIMADISTANTI under the brand TWO WOMEN TWO MEN to support the textile district in the Marche region, Italy, which specializes in denim production. The campaign has garnered widespread support from clients, suppliers, industry operators, and notable figures including actress Cristina Capotondi, journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala, curator Marcello Smarrelli, gallerists Giorgio Galotti and Paola Clerico, Artissima director Ilaria Bonacossa, and artists Ettore Favini and Gianni Politi. Marchesi, born in 1959, has a long history in fashion, starting with a small boutique at age 23. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he involved Chinese collaborators in assembling semi-finished products for masks (about 10,000 per day with Lordflex) and gowns (500-600 per day with Compagnia del Tessile Group) to keep workshops active. The campaign aims to highlight the value of Made in Italy, the research and craftsmanship behind denim production, and eco-sustainability. Artist Roberto Coda Zabetta was among the first cultural figures to support the initiative. The fashion sector in the Marche region includes over 5,000 companies with an annual turnover of 5 billion euros, according to Federmoda Cna data reported by ANSA.
