Une vision du monde: Video Collection of Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître at La Maison Rouge

From February 19 to May 14, 2006, La Maison Rouge in Paris presented "Une vision du monde," an exhibition of the video collection of Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître. Curated by Christine Van Assche, the show featured works by artists including Tacita Dean, Sigalit Landau, Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen, Zineb Sedira, Jeremy Deller, Deimantas Narkevicius, Isaac Julien, and Hassan Khan. The scenography, designed by Bureau des mésarchitectures/Didier Faustino, employed diverse display methods such as television sets, rear projection, plasma screens, light corridors, dark booths, and a cinema room. The Lemaîtres' collection is characterized by a personal sensibility detached from market trends or institutional obligations, omitting canonical video artists like Nam June Paik, Gary Hill, and Bill Viola. The exhibition was organized around three themes: "Poétique du monde," "Politique de l'autre," and "Esthétique de l'échange."
