Unauthorized Documentary on Larry Gagosian in Production

Currently in production is an unauthorized documentary called "Shadow Man: Inside The Secret World of Larry Gagosian," helmed by director Barry Avrich. This film seeks to uncover the hidden narratives of the Gagosian empire, with a number of former employees and artists eager to share their experiences. Page Six of the New York Post was the first to report on the project, noting that a spokesperson for the gallery had only recently learned about the documentary. At 81, Larry Gagosian has expanded his gallery network from selling posters on the streets of Los Angeles to 18 locations globally, including New York, Beverly Hills, Paris, and Hong Kong, representing over 110 artists like Francis Bacon and Jeff Koons. Avrich has previously directed art documentaries such as "Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art" (2020) and "Blurred Lines: Inside the Art World" (2017).
