Una Capanna nel Bosco: sustainable architecture project by Waiting Posthuman Studio

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Azzurra Muzzonigro, co-founder of Waiting Posthuman Studio, presents 'Una Capanna nel Bosco', a sustainable architecture project built in the Bosco di Civenna, Como, Italy. The 3x3x3.80 meter cabin, made of wood (fir, iroko, okume), iron, and copper roofing, was completed during the COVID-19 lockdown and will be presented to the public on September 8, 2020. The project draws on theoretical foundations from Leonardo Caffo's book 'Quattro Capanne, o della semplicità' (nottetempo, June 2020) and aims to explore new models of habitation with a light, reversible, and shared footprint. The cabin serves as a prototype for reconnecting with nature and oneself, influenced by concepts from Andrea Branzi, Gilles Clément, Davi Kopenawa, and Sun Ra. The construction involved Ebony Carpentry, a cooperative of asylum seekers from Ghana, and Sumiti, a carpentry workshop inside the Ri-Maflow factory in Milan. Muzzonigro envisions the cabin as a space for retreat and experimentation, potentially evolving into a laboratory for applied philosophy in the woods.
