UN Report: Over 38,000 Women and Girls Killed in Gaza Since October 2023
A recent report from UN Women, made public on Friday, shows that more than 38,000 women and girls have died because of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip from October 2023 until the end of 2025. By that time, Palestinian health officials projected that the total number of deaths would surpass 71,000, climbing to over 72,000 by mid-April, even with a ceasefire in place with Hamas. Notably, women and girls accounted for over half of these casualties. Furthermore, nearly 11,000 women who survived sustained injuries that led to permanent disabilities. UN agencies believe the actual death count could be much higher due to many bodies still trapped under rubble, making it challenging to track casualties. This report was released while a US envoy was in Israel for discussions.
