UN Live Museum in Copenhagen to Open in 2023 with No Traditional Collection

Michael Peter Edson, co-founder of the Museum for the United Nations – UN Live, describes the institution as a startup NGO that is close to but not part of the UN. The museum will operate on three platforms: a physical headquarters in Copenhagen (opening planned for 2023) and other global cities, a worldwide network of partner institutions, and a digital presence. UN Live will not have a traditional collection; instead, its 'collection' will consist of stories, creativity, know-how, and problem-solving capacity from individuals and communities worldwide. The museum aims to operate bottom-up, recognizing its audience as innovators and problem-solvers, targeting billions of people, especially youth. Digital engagement is crucial, as more than half the world's population is online. UN Live will measure impact through social network analysis, social sciences, and business management, participatory narrative inquiry, and surveys to gauge changes in feelings and behavior. Edson emphasizes that the museum is an 'action museum' that must improve lives to fulfill its purpose.
