(un)fair: New Milan Art Fair Launches April 2022

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

A new contemporary art fair called (un)fair will debut at Superstudio Maxi in Milan from April 8 to 10, 2022, with a by-invitation preview on April 7. Directed by Manuela Porcu and Laura Gabellotto, former director and fair manager of Affordable Art Fair Milano, the event positions itself as a 'non-fair' that prioritizes accessibility, transparency, and new forms of collecting. It will host 60 galleries, including 38 Italian (15 from Milan) and international participants from Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Iran, India, and China with Hong Kong. The fair's focus includes cultural diversity, inclusion, gender parity, and sustainability, with a collateral program of performances, talks, and DJ sets. A special project, Contemporary Art From Africa, in collaboration with Whitley Neill and AKKA Project, will showcase four young African artists: Rodrigo Mabunda (Mozambique), Nwaneri Kelechi Charles (Lagos), Cyrus Kabiru (Nairobi), and Pamela Enyonu (Kampala). AKKA Project is a gallery and project space dedicated to promoting African artists.
