Umbria launches Perugino tour by shuttle and e-bike for 500th anniversary

For the 500th anniversary of Perugino's death, the Umbria region has launched 'Il Perugino per tutti', a cultural tourism project uniting Foligno, Assisi, and Spello. Until September 9, free guided tours by shuttle and e-bike (reservation required) visit four key works: 'The Baptism of Christ' (1508-1513) at Oratorio della Nunziatella in Foligno, 'The Crucifixion' (1485-1486) at Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi, and 'Virgin and Child Enthroned with Saints Blaise and Catherine of Alexandria' (1521) and 'The Pietà' (1521) at Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello. The initiative, funded by the Umbria Region and the three municipalities, will become permanent with online mapping and downloadable GPX tracks. Foligno mayor Stefano Zuccarini emphasized networking benefits, Assisi mayor Stefania Proietti highlighted accessibility, and Spello mayor Moreno Landrini noted additional cultural offerings including a combined ticket for Villa dei Mosaici and the Civic and Diocesan Picture Gallery, plus a special publication and musical events.
