Rhode Island's Ultramoderne has emerged victorious in the inaugural Lakefront Kiosk competition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial. Their design, named Chicago Horizon, incorporates a pavilion without walls, featuring a rooftop observation deck and a compact architectural book lending library, designed to accommodate events. This kiosk will be located along the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago. As part of the prize sponsored by BP, Ultramoderne will receive $10,000 along with $75,000 for its construction. The competition is part of a larger effort to establish kiosks along the lakefront, managed by the Biennial.
