UK Train Derails Near Lewes, 11 Injured

On Thursday, a Southern Rail passenger train derailed in southern England, injuring two people seriously and nine others with minor injuries as three of its carriages flipped over. The British Transport Police reported that the train was traveling from London Victoria to Eastbourne with about 150 passengers on board when it derailed near Lewes, a popular tourist area. Rob Bradley, who was with his six-year-old daughter, described the incident to the BBC, mentioning how the train swayed, jolted, and then braked abruptly. "Everything went flying—my laptop, AirPods, bags," he said. After skidding for a while, the train came to a stop, and he observed smoke and dust, along with the rear carriage exposed and one carriage lying on its side in a field. Emergency teams quickly responded, and the investigation into what caused the derailment is still in progress.
