Ugo Rondinone's Seven Magic Mountains adorns Vasco Brondi's album cover

Italian singer-songwriter Vasco Brondi, known for his project Le Luci della Centrale Elettrica, has used Ugo Rondinone's land art piece Seven Magic Mountains as the cover artwork for his new album Terra. The album, released as a book containing Brondi's working diary, features ten tracks blending Balkan sounds, African drums, Arabic melodies, and Italian folk music, reflecting cultural and social changes over recent decades. Brondi explained on Facebook that he felt the artwork resonated with his writing, describing the fluorescent stacked stones in the Nevada desert as a metaphor for Las Vegas and the 'shining nothingness' of modern life. The photograph on the cover was taken by Gianfranco Gorgoni, a land art photographer from Bomba, Abruzzo, who moved to New York in the 1960s and captured iconic images of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, as well as portraits of Basquiat and Keith Haring. Brondi noted that he owned a Gorgoni photo showing de Chirico and Andy Warhol side by side. This marks a departure from Brondi's previous three albums, which featured illustrations by Gipi, Andrea Bruno, and Gianluigi Toccafondo.
