Ugo Rondinone's 'MORE LIGHT' Illuminates London Summer 2026

exhibition · 2026-06-09

Ugo Rondinone presents 'MORE LIGHT', a three-part city-wide project in London from June 9 to August 22, 2026, in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Arts and Sadie Coles HQ. The project spans a rainbow installation at the Royal Academy's courtyard ('THE SONG IS YOU'), 54 flags along Bond Street featuring sunrise/sunset images ('LIGHT'), and a gallery presentation of new watercolor paintings at Sadie Coles HQ on Bury Street ('MORE LIGHT'). The works explore light as a shared experience connecting bodies, cities, and consciousness, using universal motifs like sunrise, sunset, sky, horizon, sun, and moon. Rondinone describes the progression from threshold to city to inner space. The artist, born in Brunnen, Switzerland in 1964, studied at Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna and moved to New York in 1997.
