Ugo Nespolo's 'Universo Nespolo' Retrospective Opens at Villa Giulia, Verbania
An extensive retrospective showcasing the works of Italian artist Ugo Nespolo, who was born in 1941 in Mosso, has commenced at Villa Giulia in Verbania, located by Lake Maggiore. Entitled 'Universo Nespolo,' this exhibition is set to take place from May to September 2025 and includes approximately 100 pieces spanning over six decades of Nespolo's artistic journey. Curated by Sandro Parmiggiani and organized by the City of Verbania, it presents thematic pathways that intertwine Futurist, Dadaist, Pop Art, and Arte Povera artworks. Notable pieces comprise ceramic works from Bottega Gatti, Murano glass by Barovier & Toso, and models for 'Madama Butterfly' (2007). Nespolo expressed that the exhibition is a deeply emotional reflection of his diverse career. The neoclassical Villa Giulia also features a restored park accessible to the public.
