Uffizi Live 2018: open call for live performances in Florence museum
The Uffizi Galleries in Florence have launched an open call for artists, companies, and cultural associations to submit live performance projects for Uffizi Live 2018, a summer festival running from June 5 to September 25. Performances in theater, music, dance, and other live arts will take place during Tuesday evening openings until 10 PM. The initiative, conceived in 2016 by director Eike Schmidt, aims to promote the museum's heritage to a broader audience while supporting smaller artistic groups. Selected projects must engage directly with the Uffizi's collections and spaces, not merely use them as a backdrop. Participants can be individuals or groups; single artists receive €1,000, groups receive €1,500. Deadline for applications is April 15.
