Uffizi Gallery Introduces Dynamic Pricing Based on Season and Visitor Type

institutional · 2026-04-27

The Uffizi Galleries in Florence have announced a new pricing strategy, effective March 2018, that varies ticket costs by season and visitor profile. From November to February, entry will cost €12 (up from €8), while from March to October it will rise to €20. A cumulative three-day ticket for €38 grants priority access to the Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti, and Boboli Gardens. Palazzo Pitti tickets will be €10 in low season and €16 in high season, with a 50% discount for early birds entering between 8:15 and 9:25 AM. Boboli Gardens will cost €6 in low season and €10 in high season. Starting September 1, 2017, annual passes will be available: €25 for Boboli, €35 for Palazzo Pitti, €50 for the Uffizi, and €70 for the full circuit. Director Eike Schmidt stated that the system rewards art enthusiasts and repeat visitors, particularly Florentines, while discouraging quick tourism. The policy aims to balance tourist flows across the city and protect Florence's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The initiative is part of the museum's autonomous management under the Franceschini Reform, which has seen 44.5 million paid visits to state museums last year, generating over €172 million.
