Uffizi 2019 Program: Leonardo, Gormley, Cai Guo-Qiang and More

The Uffizi Galleries in Florence revealed their exhibition schedule for 2019, commemorating the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's passing. Kicking off the year is the Codex Leicester, belonging to Bill Gates, curated by Paolo Galluzzi, which will be on display until January 20, 2019, featuring interactive technology that explores Leonardo's ideas. A newly designed Sala Leonardo will present his masterpieces, including Baptism of Christ and Annunciation. Cai Guo-Qiang's 'Flora Commedia' will be available until February 17, 2019, showcasing gunpowder art. From February 25 to May 26, 2019, visitors can see Antony Gormley's 'Essere.' Additionally, 'Fragili tesori dei principi' and 'Il ratto di Polissena' will be exhibited until March 10, 2019, while Giacomo Zaganelli's 'Grand Tourismo' critiques mass tourism until February 17, 2019. Director Eike Schmidt is set to depart in 2020.
