Uchronia's Athletic & Bath Club Blends 1960s Polo Aesthetics with Bordeaux Heritage
French studio Uchronia, led by Julien Sebban, has transformed a historic private mansion in Bordeaux's Golden Triangle into the Athletic & Bath Club (ABC), a 500-square-meter hybrid fitness and social space. The project repurposes a former nightclub and travel agency, preserving the stately stone facade while introducing a 1960s-inspired interior. Key features include custom tartan carpeting, American walnut joinery, a central bar beneath a skylight, and a spa with travertine and Ceramica Appiani tiles. The design references Ralph Lauren's polo club aesthetic, using deep tones and tactile materials to create a warm, social atmosphere. ABC merges high-end hospitality with athletic facilities, reflecting a shift toward the social club model. Uchronia's portfolio includes the Koibird London boutique and Pantone Celadon Suite at Mandarin Oriental.
