UB Art Galleries Fall Season: Art, Ritual, and Belief

The University at Buffalo's UB Art Galleries has unveiled its fall lineup, featuring three exhibitions that explore the intersections of art, ritual, and belief. The exhibitions include 'Natvar Bhavsar: Free Yourself', 'Constructed Belief', and 'Karle Norman: Leather Prayers'. They showcase artists from diverse generations and backgrounds, focusing on how repetition, materials, and processes engage with belief systems. Natvar Bhavsar, a prominent figure in postwar abstraction now in his nineties, is joined by mid-career and emerging artists. Drawing inspiration from Indian, Middle Eastern, Jewish, Christian, and American subcultures, the exhibitions encompass painting, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, and works on paper. They aim to resonate with students across various fields, allowing for individual or collective viewing experiences.
