Iran has been accused by the United Arab Emirates of launching a missile at a tanker belonging to the state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) while it was navigating the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE's foreign ministry denounced the assault as aggressive, although it resulted in no injuries. This event is part of a larger trend, with ADNOC reporting that 15 of its vessels have faced attacks in Hormuz since the onset of the regional conflict, including three in just the past week. Iran has effectively blockaded the strait and intends to impose fees for passage, a stance strongly opposed by the United States. Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated that talks with Oman regarding the strait's management are nearing completion, though he warned this does not imply the waterway will reopen. The Strait of Hormuz is vital, facilitating about 20% of the global oil and liquefied natural gas supply, particularly following the US-Israeli strikes in February that intensified regional tensions.
