Two-Part Video Exhibition Explores Israeli Art Scene
Curator Marie Shek is showcasing the dual video exhibition 'Ici et Là-bas' at Galerie Michel Rein and Maison européenne de la photographie in Paris, highlighting the Israeli art scene. She reflects on the influence of the 2011 social revolution following her 2009 Nuit blanche tribute to Tel Aviv. The 'Ici' section features pieces such as Public Movement's military parades and Joseph Dadoune's 'Ofakim', which portray youth in crisis. Raafat Hattab is seen watering an olive tree at the location of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination. In 'Là-bas', Nira Pereg's flamingos evoke the Six-Day War, while Yaël Bartana's 'Trembling Time' and Sigalit Landau's 'Azkelon' explore borders, alongside works by Rona Yefman and Tom Pnini on separation and a fictional Gaza canal.
