Two new comics celebrate 100 years since Puccini's death

Two new graphic novels mark the centenary of Giacomo Puccini's death (29 November 1924 in Brussels). Giunti publishes "PaperPuccini", a Disney crossover featuring Mickey Mouse and Andrea Vocelli (a cartoon version of Andrea Bocelli, who also writes the preface and celebrates his 30-year career). Written by Augusto Macchetto, illustrated by Michela Frare and colorist Andrea Cagol, the story follows Mickey and Vocelli on a time-travel journey to meet young PaperPuccini (Donald Duck) and explore his future operas. The volume includes three parody stories: "Paperino e la piccola Butterfly", "Paperina fanciulla del West" and "Paperonbot". Edizioni NPE releases "Giacomo Puccini – Una vita per la musica", a serious biographical graphic novel written and drawn by Christian Culicelli and Giorgio Martone, with contributions from Puccini scholars Claudio Gallo and Giorgio Farabegoli. The book will premiere at Lucca Comics & Games 2024 in Puccini's hometown and hit bookstores in November.
