Two Major Picasso Exhibitions Coming to Rome and Turin for 50th Anniversary

Two major exhibitions celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death are set to open in Italy in 2023. The first, titled 'Picasso metamorfico,' opens June 28 at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, running until November 5. It features 300 works—mostly prints, engravings, and drawings—entirely from the Museo Casa Natal Picasso in Malaga, plus archival materials focusing on a 1953 exhibition. Curated by Fernando Castro Flórez, the show spans works from 1905 to 1972. The second exhibition, 'Picasso Rendez-vous,' opens October 12 at Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana in Turin, running through January 2024. It presents 300 works including photographs, lithographs, ceramics, and engravings. Curated by Jean Christoph Hubert, it is organized by Radar Eventi Culturali, Extramuseum arte e scienza, and PTK Piemonteticket in collaboration with the Administration Picasso. Both shows are part of official celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the artist's death, following earlier events in Switzerland, Spain, and a drawing exhibition at BUILDING gallery in Milan.
