Two Islands, One Thread: Art and Cultures of Lombok and Bali at AGSA

An exhibition titled "Two Islands, One Thread: Art and Cultures of Lombok and Bali" will be held at the Art Gallery of South Australia from May 15 to October 11, 2026. Featuring over one hundred works by the Sasak people, the exhibit explores the artistic exchanges between Hindu Bali and Muslim Lombok. It will showcase a diverse array of items, including textiles that are embroidered, painted, tie-dyed, and woven, as well as eighteenth-century Balinese temple doors, gold plaques, and paintings, highlighting the regions' architecture, artistic traditions, and ceremonial life.
