Two exhibitions celebrate the closure of Rome's historic MAS department store
The historic five-story department store, Magazzini allo Statuto (MAS), located near Piazza Vittorio in Rome, is set to close its doors permanently. Initially established in the early 20th century as a high-end shopping venue, it eventually transformed into a discount clothing outlet known for its lowbrow charm. The site has served as inspiration for artists such as Rä di Martino. To commemorate its closure, the performance group artisti§innocenti, featuring Anna Cestelli Guidi and Helia Hamedani, has curated two month-long exhibitions titled CAMERINI / cambi d'artista, which will conclude with a one-day event on an empty floor. This collective exhibition, running from August 10 to September 8, 2016, showcases artists including Giovanni Albanese, Andrea Fogli, and others.
