Two Dead, Five Injured in Shooting at Seattle Food Festival

A shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival near the Space Needle on Sunday evening left two dead and five wounded, including a child. The gunfire erupted around 6pm during the annual event that features hundreds of vendors and performers. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson confirmed that police detained one suspect. Two people died at the scene, according to Seattle Fire Department spokesperson Grace Nunez. Five victims were taken to Harborview Medical Centre: a 56-year-old woman in serious condition, a 2-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman in stable condition, and a 40-year-old woman with minor injuries. Police are investigating and urged the public to avoid the area northwest of downtown.
