Two Books Explore Louise Bourgeois's Life and Work
Two new publications examine the life and work of Louise Bourgeois. Jean Frémon's "Calme-toi, Lison" (P.O.L) and Xavier Girard's "Louise Bourgeois face à face" (Seuil, "Fiction & Cie") offer complementary perspectives. Bourgeois's mother restored antique tapestries and, with a mix of strength and fragility, endured her husband's infidelities under the same roof. The books were reviewed in artpress issue 431 (March 2016, p. 76).
