Tutankhamun Immersive Exhibition Opens in Venice

exhibition · 2026-04-27

An immersive exhibition dedicated to Tutankhamun, titled 'Tutankhamon.100 anni di misteri', will open in Venice on October 29, 2022, at Palazzo Zaguri. The show celebrates the centenary of the discovery of the pharaoh's tomb by Howard Carter in 1922. It features over 1,000 archaeological artifacts and uses cutting-edge 8K virtual reality technology to recreate the tomb experience. Fifty VR headsets produced by Web'nGo – OneVR of Treviso allow visitors to explore a photogrammetric reconstruction of the tomb, supervised by a team of Egyptologists. The exhibition spans five floors and 36 rooms of the 14th-century Palazzo Zaguri, totaling over 3,000 square meters. In addition to the VR experience, the show presents an unprecedented pictorial-analytical portrait of Tutankhamun, combining forensic reconstruction and artistic interpretation to convey the personality of the young pharaoh, who died in 1323 BC. Organizers describe the event as a 'pharaonic cultural event' that blends research and spectacle.
