Tuscany launches first digital residency call amid COVID-19 lockdown

digital · 2026-04-27

The Centro di Residenza della Toscana, comprising cultural associations Armunia and CapoTrave/Kilowatt, together with partners AMAT and Anghiari Dance Hub, has launched a call for Digital Residencies. The initiative offers artists working in contemporary drama, movement, or performance the opportunity to present projects conceived specifically for the digital environment. Four selected projects will each receive a residency contribution of 2,500 euros, and winners must produce at least one online event during 2020. The call aims to explore digital space as an alternative venue for artistic research and audience interaction, with access requiring paid tickets to valorize professional work. Artistic directors Fabio Masi, Angela Fumarola, Lucia Franchi, and Luca Ricci emphasize that the residency does not replace physical residencies but adapts to current constraints. The deadline is May 11, 2020.
