Turner Prize 2016 shortlist features four British artists under fifty

The 2016 Turner Prize shortlist features four artists, highlighting exceptional exhibition work by British creatives under fifty. Michael Dean received a nomination for his solo exhibitions at de Appel arts centre in Amsterdam and South London Gallery. Anthea Hamilton was recognized for her show at SculptureCentre in New York. Helen Marten's accolades include her involvement in the 56th Venice Biennale and a solo display at Green Naftali in New York. Josephine Pryde secured her nomination through a solo exhibition at CCA Wattis in San Francisco. The total prize fund is £40,000, with £25,000 awarded to the winner and £5,000 for each of the other nominees. The Turner Prize exhibition will take place at Tate Britain from 27 September to 8 January 2017, with the winner revealed in December during a BBC-broadcast ceremony. The jury, led by Tate Britain director Alex Farquharson, includes Michelle Cotton, Tamsin Dillon, Beatrix Ruf, and Simon Wallis.
