A Turkish court has handed down prison sentences to eight individuals for their roles in a fatal 2024 cable car accident in Antalya. The incident, which occurred in the coastal resort, resulted in one fatality and seven injuries after a gondola collided with a pole and ruptured, causing passengers to fall. Four defendants received sentences of seven and a half years each for causing death and injury through negligence. The remaining four were given prison terms ranging from three years and four months to five years for the same offense. Following the accident, the cable car system was shut down, leaving 174 people stranded in gondolas high above the ground for nearly 23 hours before rescue operations were completed. The state-run Anadolu news agency reported the court's decision on Monday.
